Danae Hoffmann: No pain, no gain
The exhibition embodies the idea that effort is a prerequisite for success. The objects on display evoke the concept of physical self-optimisation and refer to everyday situations such as physical exercise, but their soft materials make them fragile and contradictory, rendering them ineffective. The weasel offers a contrast: small, agile, and instinctive, it challenges the logic of discipline and optimisation. Opposite it stands a comically exaggerated muscular figure, symbolising an extreme and artificial ideal of masculinity. The interaction between these elements creates a tension between instinctive agility and ostentatious muscular strength, revealing and questioning different perceptions of the body and reality.
