Irène Zurkinden: Love, Life
The Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger – KBH.G presents “Love, Life”, an exhibition curated by Rebecca Eigen and Reto Thüring dedicated to the 20th-century Swiss artist Irène Zurkinden. The show includes a wide selection of works from both public and private collections. It offers a recontextualised view of Zurkinden’s practice, featuring portraits, cityscapes, and personal works on paper shown publicly for the first time. The exhibition spans five decades of her career, from her early years in 1930s Paris to her later works in the 1980s. Visitors follow her artistic development, which combines Swiss precision with French elegance. The exhibition also includes drawings, paintings, and sketchbooks that highlight her interest in both personal and social themes. Zurkinden’s contributions to Swiss and European modern art remain central throughout the show.
