Kamilla Bischof: Rosa Prosa 2

After her residency in the summer of 2025, Kamilla Bischof returns to Villa Renata with "Rosa Prosa 2". For this exhibition, the artist, born in Graz in 1986 and now based in Berlin, creates a spatial structure composed of large-scale painted fabric panels. The walls are partially covered, as though protecting a piano or another interior space during painting. This setting forms the backdrop for a series of circular oil paintings. A tension emerges between the gestural, expansive acrylic surfaces and the detailed small-format works, in which figuration and abstraction reinforce one another.

She focuses on the interaction between figurative motifs and painterly action. She explores how narrative approaches dissolve into shimmering, evocative surfaces and, conversely, how concrete scenes emerge from them. As the title suggests, writing – the creation of a summer reading – plays a central role. Alongside her painting practice, Bischof continuously writes prose texts that accompany and expand her visual worlds, often culminating in a surreal narrative form that may also develop into video works.

During the exhibition period, Bischof will once again live in the guest apartment above the installation and work on a scenographic text that accompanies the installation like another room. Like a new episode in an ongoing narrative, Rosa Prosa 2 unfolds a poetic-visual mode of thought that embraces another summer.
