L’Ill: Déborder la rivière
Curator: Sandrine Wymann
Artists: Carolina Caycedo, Angéline Dubois, Encastrable (Antoine Lejolivet & Paul Souviron), Tanja Engelberts, Guillaumit, Mariana Murcia, Marie Ouazzani & Nicolas Carrier, Charles Prime, James Webb
The exhibition portrays the Ill as an entity linked to resources, activities, and species. Through a collection of works that use the river as a symbol or the Ill in particular as a case study, the exhibition sets out to observe these connections, echoing a system in which every element of a landscape is essential for the others in it to flourish. The voice of the Ill mingles with that of humans, plants, and animals to tell the story of an ideal ecosystem in which the rights of each component are acknowledged.
The 11 artists involved in the exhibition present works either directly inspired by the Ill or by encounters with other rivers.
Through sculpture, painting, video, and installation, they create a dialogue with the water, its inhabitants and its surroundings, inviting us to rediscover the river and learn a new way of existing in our world.
