Martina Gmür: 37+

37+ is a solo exhibition by Swiss painter and performance artist Martina Gmür, on view until 22 August 2026.

The title refers to the artist’s shoe size and to a walk-in installation in the form of an oversized shoe, which is the central element of the exhibition. According to the artist, shoes are essential for movement as practical objects that carry people through the world. They are both protective and functional, while also forming a stable yet fragile boundary between the body and the outside world, as well as between self and others.

Gmür’s large-scale installation creates a space for reflection and pause, offering an “inside-out” environment that explores questions of purpose and scale, separation and interaction, and the relationship between self and other.
