The Backward Glance Can Be a Glimpse Into the Future

A comprehensive exhibition ranging from contemporary and recent pieces to pioneers of Constructivism from the early 20th century

von Bartha, Kannenfeldstrasse 6, 4056 Basel, Switzerland

The group exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of gallery Von Bartha, gathering works by 45 outstanding artists spanning the five-decade history of the art space. Opening in Basel, “The Backward Glance can be a Glimpse into the Future” feature artworks from the past hundred years, combining modern masters, such as Camille Graeser, Yves Laloy, Jean Tinguely among the others, and contemporary artists, like Anna Dickinson, Terry Haggerty, and Sarah Oppenheimer. In this way, the exhibition stages an interesting confrontation between Von Bartha’s founding generation of artists and contemporary works, highlighting a decisive moment for the gallery, both deeply rooted in the past and projected in the future.
