Carlos Garaicoa

On the occasion of Art City Bologna 2022, the Oratory of San Filippo Neri hosts the site-specific installation by artist Carlos Garaicoa.

Via Manzoni 5, Bologna

Carlos Garaicoa interacts with the eighteenth-century space of the Oratory of San Filippo Neri, a place much loved by the public, with an installation curated by Maura Pozzati, through which the Cuban artist intends to approach the history of the place, remembering its destruction during the Second World War and the restoration that allowed to recover a masterpiece of Bolognese Baroque architecture.

Garaicoa‘s installation, in fact, inspired by the scaffolding used in construction – a tribute to the dramatic history experienced by the Oratory, which ended with the happy ending of the “beautiful reconstruction” – is multidisciplinary and lives together with the musical composition written by Esteban Puebla and performed by Mahé Marty, and the video-animation created by Pablo Calatayud entitled, precisely, “Oratorio“.
