Al Haraka Baraka: In Movement There is Blessing

A project commissioned by U.A.E. Unlimited Arab Exploration. The theme of the exhibition Al Haraka Baraka: In Movement There is Blessing explores the rich mix of cultures that have long existed in the U.A.E. and the influence of these cultural migrations. Transitions in geographies and nationalities leave their traces in family names, local dishes, customs, costumes, music, dance and cultural practices. Today this situation continues but on a grander scale since the discovery of oil and the formation of the U.A.E. as a united country. A magnet for migration, the U.A.E. hosts over 75 nationalities today. For the last forty years ago, the country has been permanently under construction. There is a tangible feeling of impermanence and building and rebuilding, things are accepted as constantly in flux.
