Hiwa K: Do You Remember What You Are Burning?

The exhibit at Jameel Arts Centre brings together works by Hiwa K spanning over ten years of his practice, including a new interactive large-scale commission and the outdoor installation “One Room Apartment”, originally commissioned for Documenta 14. 

Hiwa K’s research investigates displacement, belonging, and resilience, often inspired by the artist’s personal experience. Born in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in Iraqi Kurdistan, he was forced to flee as a refuge and to return to his home country many years later.
