To initiate the summer season, Tashkeel presents Made in Tashkeel 2016, an annual exhibition showcasing the works of Tashkeel members, workshop participants and recent exhibiting artists. The exhibition celebrates the on-going practice of members that makes up the creative and communal atmosphere within the art organisation.
Every year the Made in Tashkeel exhibition has presented the wide range of disciplines offered in the studios and through the workshop programme, the diversity of media used by our artists and the energy, commitment and enthusiasm of our members. The exhibition, running each May to September, provides a great opportunity for everyone at Tashkeel to reflect on the growth and development that has taken place during the previous year.
Throughout the past 8 years, Tashkeel has increasingly established its role in the creative industry as an artistic community that facilitates dialogues between artists of different backgrounds in a supportive and productive environment. The works displayed at Made in Tashkeel are a cumulative result of those dialogues and convey the zeal and commitment that the members show towards their practice. The purpose of the exhibition is not only to celebrate the work of the members, workshop participants, or and exhibiting artists, but to also illustrate the variety of expressions and skills fostered in Tashkeel during the past year through residencies, projects, and studio support.
The summer exhibition for this edition will include: Afshan Daneshvar, Ammar Al Attar, Azim Al Ghussein, eL Seed, Eman AlHashemi, Emma Parthare, Gail Reid, Harshseet Thukral, Jeff Scofield, Judy Shinnick, Kathryn Wilson, Kay Li, Khalid Mezaina, Manal AlDowayan, Myneandyours, Natalia Lasso, Saif Mhaisen, and Sham Enbashi. Varying from traditional to contemporary techniques, the exhibited works will range from digital photography, sculptures, installation, comic books, laser-cut fashion wear, to printmaking and painting.
