Elmgreen & Dragset: Overheated
Massimo De Carlo is pleased to present Elmgreen & Dragset’s solo exhibition “Overheated” which transforms Massimo De Carlo’s third-floor gallery in Hong Kong into a different setting: an abandoned, underground boiler room. Featuring the shifting cultural dynamics of our recent history, the show engages with the context of Hong Kong, a city once recognised as a major manufacturing centre for goods and products but today more well-known as a financial centre and an art market hub.
Continuing the artist duo’s practice of altering art spaces into other kinds of environments, Elmgreen & Dragset once again turn a white cube into a very distinct environment from a common art space. The environment will invite the visitors’ to step over, bend under, or walk around the large tubes at show in order to navigate and explore the site. The materiality of this large installation makes visitors aware of their bodily presence in relation to the architecture.
