On Saturday 9 July, the Fondazione Pino Pascali presented the work “Inverso Mundus” (2015) by the Russian collective AES+F. The Russian collective founded in 1987 by Tatiana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich and Evgeny Svyatsky + Vladimir Fridkes, and it returns to Polignano a Mare with a work and a peace project, in collaboration with International Center “European Integration of Ukraine” NGO.
The work is inspired by the 16th-century engravings of the ‘Mundus inversus’ in which a radical reversal of social roles and relations between humans and animals is proposed in order to produce an impossible representation. ln “Inverso Mundus”, medieval carnival scenes appear as episodes from contemporary life in which characters act out absurd social utopias and exchange masks, transforming themselves from beggars to rich people, from policemen to thieves.
