Francesco Vezzoli: Il complesso di Edipo
An encounter between baroque and contemporary art
Promoted by Trinity Fine Art (Carlo Orsi) with the artist Francesco Vezzoli and in collaboration of the Franco Noero Gallery the exhibition brings together two masterpieces of Baroque sculpture, the busts of the Marquis Giovanni Corsi and Cardinal Domenico Maria Corsi sculpted by Alessandro Rondoni (c. 1644-c. 1710), a contemporary 17th-century Roman artist by Bernini.
Wearing the role of both artist and curator, Vezzoli explores the theme of the parental relationship. The Brescia-born artist, who has always been involved in works capable of mediating historical quotations and classical figurative culture, declares a strong affinity with the drama and emotion typical of Baroque art. Witness his ability as a director and sculptor made evident by films, fashion, pop culture that have led to the involvement of great figures such as Catherine Deneuve, Cate Blanchett and Lady Gaga.
