Georg Baselitz: Darkness Goldness

White Cube Mason’s Yard hosts new paintings and sculptures by Georg Baselitz. The first feature images of open hands emerging from dark backgrounds, far from conventional representations and suspended between abstraction and figuration. Some ink-on-paper drawings show the same motive in a more realistic form, while a selection of sculptures consists of fire-gilded bronze bas-relief hands hang on the wall. These are the first sculptural objects realised by the artist since 2013.
