Rachel Maclean
Zabludowicz Collection dedicates the 2018 edition of its Annual Commission Show to Rachel Maclean, which presents for the occasion three of her video works. “I’m Terribly Sorry” is the first artist’s work in virtual reality, directly commissioned by the collection; “Spite Your Face”, 2017, which Maclean presented at the 57th Venice Biennale, draws inspiration from the Italian fable of Pinocchio; finally “Make Me Up”, 2018, is a dark satire on the prejudices that women face everyday in current society.
Artist Rachel Maclean always creates baroque and hyper- real worlds by using technologies such as green screens and computer animation. Her video works narrate fables which mix horror and comedy and in which the artist herself plays the majority of the roles.
