Los Modernos
The exhibition “Los Modernos” will offer the public an overview of the development of modern art in the twentieth century, from a selection of over 140 works from both the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon, France, as the National Museum of Art, and the involvement of other important collections.
From nine thematic clusters, driven by contributions aesthetic artistic avant-garde movements that simultaneously and at different latitudes, agreed on the same concerns about the rejection of the figurative tradition of naturalistic representation and exaltation of matter is highlighted as an essential condition of a new pictorial language.
Works of great masters of painting of this period enter into dialogue from the confrontation of individual and collective concerns, allowing bringing together artists like Pierre Bonnard, Albert Gleizes, George Braque, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Fernand Leger, Pierre Soulages, Francis Bacon, with Saturnino Herran, Angel Zarraga, Gerardo Murillo, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Jose Clemente Orozco, Germán Cueto, Remedios Varo, Roberto Montenegro, among many others.
