Operación Queer/Cochona
Since 2013, “Operation Queer/Cochona” has woven a collective practice that overflows the boundaries between art, activism, and critical thought. Emerging in Nicaragua as a response to structural violence and the exclusion of dissident bodies, the collective has sustained artivist processes amid exile, repression, and geographic dispersion. Their work proposes a radical reconfiguration of memory, desire, and community, articulating queer, feminist, and decolonial networks throughout Central America and beyond.
“Operation Queer/Cochona” is an intergenerational collective co-founded by Elyla, Jilma Estrada, Ana Victoria Portocarrero, Luigi Bridges, Camilo Antillón, Alejandro Belli, and Guillermo Sáenz—artists, activists, and scholars. Their current focus includes strengthening ecofeminist networks, decolonizing mestizaje, and building connections with emerging spaces across the Central American region. This project gathers fragments of their actions, collaborations, and political gestures from 2013 to the present.
