Julian Gilbert-Davis: Neighbors
Locust Projects, 297 NE 67th Street, Miami
LAB MFA is a national open call to graduate-level artists for an exhibition in Locust Projects’ project space. For this year’s exhibition, LAB MFA invited to Locust Projects, MFA student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, Julian Gilbert-Davis with his show “Neighbors”.
For this work, Gilbert-Davis draws a dialogue between polling places in New Brunswick and Miami. With consideration to the civic ritual of voting, “Neighbors” investigates the polling place as shrine and public commons, examining the democratic ideals and institutions it sustains.
