Anne Ryan: Euoī, Euoī, Euoī

Irish artist Anne Ryan has her solo show at RIBOT, Milan, titled “Euoī, Euoī, Euoī” after the word used in Greek mythology by the Bacchantes in their ovation for Dionysus. The works by the artist, in fact, are filled with energy, movement and bright colours: the first floor of the gallery displays a series of the so-called “cut paintings”, cardboard shaped in human forms installed on wooden bases, representing groups of men and women dancing, playing music and performing other actions. The shapes, cut and then painted in acrylic colours, stress the traditional concept of bi-dimensional surface, expanding in the space.

Another project on view has been carried out by the artist specifically for the exhibition: a body of works realised through the technique of linoleography on Japanese bamboo paper.
