Atlas I
Fondazione Prada presents a group show of seven works by John Bock, Tom Friedman, Mona Hatoum, Carsten Höller, Marc Quinn, Rachel Whiteread and Andrea Zittel. With all of these works, the nature of an art collection – originated from specific themes, time periods, artistic language or geography – is being examined.
“Atlas I” is the first within a series of exhibition. It focuses on the period of the 90s, displaying artists which deal with previous generations and artistic styles and replace these with the influences of technology. All of these artists therefore outline the transformation of the artist from being a physical and intellectual creator into a scientific and analytical researcher.
The exhibition is an interpretation of the Foundation’s collection hosted in the podium, and gives an individual space to each work – seemingly dislocated, they however form a complex unity of different techniques and artistic skills used for purposes of expression.
