Barry X Ball: The End of History
FAI and Castello Sforzesco, on the occasion of miart, presents a solo show by the Californian artist Barry x Ball. His solo show is on view at Villa Panza in Varese and his interpretation of Michelagelo’s Pietà Rondanini is on display at Castello Sforzesco in the heart of Milan.
The exhibition – curated by Anna Bernardini, Director of Villa and Collezione Panza and Laura Mattioli, art historian, collector and founder of the Center for Italian Modern Art in New York – presents 55 works from the ’80s to today, in an excursus that starts from the first works with gold background, small precious and shiny objects that echo religious icons and altarpieces, and reaches the recent charismatic Portraits up to the Masterpieces section, in a path that winds from the rooms on the first floor of the Villa to the new space for coaches.
The artist began his career working on minimalist works and has arrived to his current experiments in a constant tension between tradition and innovation.
