Carla Accardi: Contesti

Six years after Carla Accardi's death, Il Museo del Novecento presents her first monographic exhibition in a public institution.

Museo del Novecento, Piazza Duomo, 8, Milan, Italy

The project by Milan Municipality, Museo del Novecento and Electa, is part of the wider programme ” I Talenti delle Donne” (Women’s talents), proposing multidisciplinary initiatives dedicated to women influent in the arts and in creative thinking.

Curated by Maria Grazia Messina and Anna Maria Montaldo with Giorgia Gastaldon, the exhibition is part of the research the Museum is focusing on: the historical and artistic re-contextualisation of female figures working in Italy in the second half of the ‘900.

“Contesti” (Contexts) is the title of this exhibition by the Sicilian artist Carla Accardi, presenting her work through 70 pieces, including paintings and installations, together with photos and other documents, aiming at analysing the artist taking into account the context from a historical, social and political point of view.
