Haegue Yang: Tightrope Walking and Its Wordless Shadow
Tightrope Walking and Its Wordless Shadow marks artist Haegue Yang‘s first institutional solo show in Italy. The exhibition, unfolding in a three-room space, features both already significative artworks for the artist’s career and new commissions, which highlight the recurring themes of her creative research. Her works address topics such as abstraction and geometry, movement and performativity, and the interlocked dynamics of folding and unfolding, using different media that range from paper collage and video essays to performative sculptures and large-scale installations. The installations shown reference social history and both personal and collective memories, trying to communicate evocative messages through nonverbal languages.
The exhibition is the second edition of Furla Series, an annual program in which Fondazione Furla organizes major events showcasing prominent contemporary artists, in collaboration with Italy’s foremost art institutions.
