Joséphine Topolanski: Le impronte del cielo
The artist’s work focuses on the creation of a cult that blends ufology, religion, and technomysticism, fostering a symbiosis between science, spirituality, and folklore. Her practice explores a new system of personal beliefs, operating between the documentary and the imaginative, the visible and the invisible, and the true and the false. Her works are based on “parafiction”, a term defined by art historian Carrie Lambert-Beatty to describe the intertwining of information that challenges our assumptions of truth.
The artist immerses the viewer in a space composed of ambiguous traces, including technological residues, devices linked to undecipherable cults, and oracular figures outside a clear temporal line. Shrouded in their own auras, these works lose their self-referential dimension to become points of condensation for these presences. These spaces of transition invite the public to immerse themselves in an alternative version of reality.
