Omaggio all’America Latina
The Fondazione Emilio Scanavino and the Centro Artistico Alik Cavaliere present, in collaboration with Prometeogallery, a restaging of “Omaggio all’America Latina” (1971), the monumental work conceived by Alik Cavaliere and Emilio Scanavino for the 11th São Paulo Biennial, alongside the performance “Homage to Latin America – VEILING” by Regina José Galindo, on the occasion of Milano Art Week 2026.
More than fifty years after its diplomatic exclusion, the work returns to centre stage not as a historical document, but as a living presence. The project does not merely exhibit a masterpiece of the late twentieth century; it reactivates it through dialogue with a performative intervention by Regina José Galindo, one of the most radical and internationally recognised figures in contemporary art.
The performance is accompanied by an exhibition that presents to the public the historical background of Omaggio all’America Latina and highlights its international dimension, reconnecting it with the continent to which it was originally dedicated. Through this reactivation, the Fondazione Emilio Scanavino and the Archivio Alik Cavaliere propose a critical repositioning of the work.
The Fondazione Emilio Scanavino thanks the Centro Artistico Alik Cavaliere for hosting the events as part of the exhibition.
