Dadi D. Pudumjee: A Puppeteer’s Journey
India International Centre and Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust, celebrates the creativity and the ingenuity of Indian puppeteer Dadi D. Pudumjee, in an exhibition unlike no other. His work has inspired many generations of puppeteers, and a diverse collection of his puppets have been put together for the first time in this unique display.
Lively and colourful characters of all shapes and sizes compete for your attention from all directions and eras. Visitors will get to see puppets created during Dadi Pudumjee’s Sutradhar puppet theatre days at Shri Ram Centre for Arts and Culture in 1980 to his work for Television, film, theatre, award winning productions and more.
There are many legendary and well known Indian puppets and characters that have not been on display for decades, and the exhibition shines a light on fascinating aspects of Dadi’s four decade career in Delhi. A chance for the young and old to experience puppetry in all of its myriad forms – be sure not to miss it.
