In Practice: Other Objects

The collective exhibition gathers specially commissioned works by eleven artists which highlight the blurred boundaries between “objecthood” and personhood. The pieces on view frieze moments and situations in which a body can become a thing or, in turn, an object could stand for a body.

“In Practice: Other Objects” reflects on the status of bodies as fluid entities, whose nature is contingent upon the objects which they interact with; it also reflects on the capacity of material things to assume a body’s agency as means to convey memories and experiences or to mediate intimacy and move politically.

The showcase is part of the “In Practice” open call programme, supporting emerging artists and curators in creating new works for exhibitions at SculptureCenter, New York.
