Björk and Aleph: Nature Manifesto
This immersive sound installation by Björk and Aleph, displayed in the “Chenille” space at the Centre Pompidou, creates an auditory experience that reflects current environmental challenges, encouraging us to reconsider our relationship with nature and our role in its preservation.
Designed as a post-optimistic manifesto on nature, this sound piece by Björk and Aleph addresses the unprecedented damage to biodiversity and ecosystem collapse. The work merges Björk’s voice, reading her manifesto, with the calls of extinct or endangered animals, harmonized with natural soundscapes. Imagining a future where biology’s resilience creates new combinations in nature, the piece gives a voice to silent nature, transforming silence into sound and resonating in our collective imagination. The sounds were edited and produced by Björk in collaboration with Robin Meier Wiratunga, using software from the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (Ircam) and AI models.
