Christian Boltanski: Life in the Making
The monographic exhibition at Centre Pompidou spans the fifty-year career of one of the most influential contemporary artists, under the curatorship of Bernard Blistène
The Centre Pompidou, Paris, hosts a major exhibition dedicated to the fifty-year career of Christan Boltanski, one of the most significant contemporary artists of our time. “Life in the Making” celebrates the artist’s career with a comprehensive ensemble of his pieces, highlighting Boltanski’s continuous experimentation through different media and artistic expressions.
Since his artistic debut in 1967, Boltanski has been investigating human life and nature, celebrating everyday stories and rituals. The exhibition path shows the development of his works, both sensitive and corrosive, exploring collective memory and western rituals. After Boltanski’s first monographic display in 1984 at Centre Pompidou, “Life in the Making” presents the lucid gaze of the artist over western culture, in its illusions and disillusions.
