Martin Margiela
Lafayette Anticipation in Paris opens its first solo exhibition by artist and stylist Martin Margiela
For the first solo exhibition of Lafayette Anticipations, the foundation decided to show a solo exhibition of sculptures, installations, collages, paintings, and films by Martin Margiela.
Martin Margiela has been known as a surprising and innovative fashion designer since 1980, but no one knows that he is also a great artist who has pushed the boundaries of art.
The works on display are largely created in his Foundation’s studio, a 2200 square meter space – divided into seven floors – designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas’ OMA studio.
The exhibition displayed at LaFayette, Paris, Marais is presented as an immersive labyrinth where artworks appear and disappear along the way.
Margiela personally curated the exhibition.
