Temple of Love – Atopos. Invitation to Gaëlle Choisne
The artist Gaëlle Choisne introduces the concept of inhabiting the museum rooms.
The artist Gaëlle Choisne, invited by the museum to take charge of the exhibition of the “À mains nues” collection, introduces the concept of inhabiting the museum rooms: she welcomes the visitors’ body as the very subject of the project and implements the principle of hospitality in order to consider and take care of it. The artist proposes an overall project that takes place in his exploration of Roland Barthes’ “Fragments d’un discours amoureux”, entitled “Temple of Love“, a project that has been carried out for several years in different places, as was the case, for example, in Bétonsalon in 2018.
This new presence at the MAC VAL, “Temple of Love -Atopos“, is located in the heart of the exhibition space, opposite the other works. Through mobile and sculptural devices, it offers forms of welcome to the public, inviting them to participate and listen to artistic interventions programmed by the artist: philosopher, artist, musician, anthropologist, masseur. Some twenty interventions are activated over the course of a year.
Gaëlle Choisne accompanies the works in the collection with living beings, with what is the very essence of humanity: philosophy, thought, contact, the thirst for becoming, germination, life.
Here again, his project is under the sign of love and relationship with others, an experience of living love as a political, social and solidarity response.
