Oscar Murillo: Together in Our Spirits
Together in Our Spirits is the first solo exhibition by Oscar Murillo in Portugal. Spread across the spaces of the Contemporary Gallery, the Hall and the Chapel of Serralves Museum, this comprehensive presentation brings together some of the most important bodies of work developed by the artist in recent years, as well as new works created specifically for the exhibition spaces.
Oscar Murillo considers Together in Our Spirits to be “a poetic gesture towards the collective.” This wide-ranging exhibition offers a glimpse into how a multifaceted exploration of themes such as collectivity, community, ritual, and spirituality, accompanied by considerations of social inequality, globalization, and geopolitical tensions, play out in complex ways throughout his work in its many forms.
The exhibition is organised by Fundação the Serralves – Museum of Contemporary Art and is curated by Inês Grosso and Filipa Loureiro.
