Alfredo Jaar: The Politics of Images

Galeria Luisa Strina presents “The Politics of Images”, a solo exhibition featuring four works by the artist, architect and video-maker Alfredo Jaar: the installation “The Sound of Silence” (2006), questioning the limits of representation and observation in terms of responsibility of the photographer, of those who controls the circulation of images, and of the viewer; “One Million Points of Light” (2005), in memory of the 14 millions slaves sent from Angolan to Brazil; “LIFE” (1996), reflecting on the absence of any representation of Africa in LIFE magazine; “From Time to Time” (2006), also addressing the racist stereotypes of Occidental’s medias towards Africa.
