Liuba e Amigos

Galeria Marcelo Guarnieri – Ribeirao Preto from 19 March to 29 April will be presenting the exhibition Liuba e Amigos. The exhibition includes works by Sobre Liuba and other artists, such as Marcello Grassmann, Bruno Giorgi, Ernesto De Fiori, Yolanda Mohalyi, Frans Krajcberg, Samson Flexor, Francisco Rebolo.

The exhibition displays a collection of works produced by Liuba between the 1960s and 1970s, this period is significant because of the formal change that took a place in his creation. In the years before the works he produced were more traditional representation of the human figure: heads in bronze and plaster; the following years mark a transition between figuration and abstraction towards which the artist was moving to. As the artist would describe, “For me, they are animals. But I can not explain where they come from – should be my subconscious “, the forms, even though recognizable, are in fact is a symbiosis between plants and animals.
