Lee Lozano: Strike

Pinacoteca Agnelli is pleased to announce the new exhibition dedicated to Lee Lozano, a pioneering artist and key figure from the New York 60's and early 70's art scene.

The exhibition on show at Pinacoteca Agnelli brings together a wide selection of the artist’s works, spanning her brief yet extremely prolific career from 1960 to 1972. Trained as a painter in Chicago, Lee Lozano moved to New York and rapidly affirmed herself in the art scene of the 1960s, distinguishing herself for her multifaceted work, engaging both with painting and a profoundly conceptual practice.

While participating in the social and artistic context of the time, dominated by pop art, minimalism and conceptual art, Lozano maintained a position radically opposed to all forms of categorisation and systems of power. Strike proposes an exhibition path traversing the different periods of his production, starting with his expressionist figurative drawings and paintings, moving on to the Tools series, large oils on canvas, and following their formal evolution towards minimalist abstraction.
