Douglas Gordon: Gente di Palermo

MUVE and the artist Douglas Gordon present in the suggestive Prigioni (Prisons) of Palazzo Ducale the unreleased video installation “Gente di Palermo” (People from Palermo), a home movie shot in the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo.

While wandering in the underground cemetery, Gordon finds an inflatable dolphin fluttering among the children’s mummies and he takes this playful accident in a dramatic context as starting point for his reflection on the juxtaposition of opposites, on the macabre contrast between life and death.
