Jenny Saville
Ca’ Pesaro presents an exhibition dedicated to Jenny Saville, curated by Elisabetta Barisoni and supported by Gagosian, tracing the development of the artist’s practice from the 1990s to the present. Bringing together more than thirty paintings and drawings, including key works from the past decades, it offers an overview of a figurative approach shaped by sustained attention to the body, portraiture and the history of painting.
Saville’s work is presented in dialogue with the artistic heritage of Venice and with the traditions of the Venetian School, with which her practice maintains a strong connection. Rooted in both historical and contemporary painting, her work engages with questions surrounding the body and its representation, while also reflecting on the material and formal possibilities of painting itself. The final room includes a previously unseen group of works created in homage to Venice for the exhibition.
