Rick Lowe: The Arch within the Arc

Museum of Palazzo Grimani in collaboration with Gagosian present “The Arch within the Arc,” by American artist Rick Lowe, an exhibition inspired by architecture of the Palace and the urban dynamics of Venice.

Lowe’s new series of paintings stem from the consideration of the arch in architecture, as the artist observes: “Everything has a life cycle, and within every cycle, there is a curve, like the arch in architecture.”

In these vibrant canvases, created with acrylic paint and collage, geometric motifs and improvisation engage in dialogue. Through a process of pictorial construction and deconstruction the artist evokes infrastructure, mapping, and the experience of moving in the city.
