Tapio Wirkkala

The exhibition at Museo del Vetro in Murano pays a tribute to the eclectic artistic genius of Tapio Wirkkala, the late designer, graphic designer and sculptor of wood. Important name in the field of the glass design, he also produced a significative number of pieces in the lagoon.
The exhibition features more than a hundred works to highlight the two sides of the artist’s vast production: on one hand the work focused on the transparency of glass and its materiality, deeply rooted in the Finnish nature, and on the other, the colourful pieces linked to the artistic and executive virtuosity of Murano. “Tapio Wirkkala” also sheds light on the variety of the artist’s research, with a selection of other materials and objects.
