Denmark 2026
Title: Things to Come
Commissioner: The Danish Arts Foundation
Curator: Chus Martínez
Exhibitor: Maja Malou Lyse
The Pavilion features a collaboration between artist Maja Malou Lyse and curator Chus Martínez. The exhibition explores how various image and value systems—specifically science, fiction, and pornography—intersect to shape visions of the future. By examining the paradoxical entanglement of fertility science and erotic imagery, the project introduces a grounded dimension to public discourse regarding human reproductive potential.
The installation reflects Lyse’s media-conscious practice, which investigates sexuality, power, and representation in the digital age, combined with Martínez’s curatorial focus on care and dialogue. A dedicated research and working group has been established to expand upon Lyse’s ongoing inquiry into how the life of images affects the body and reality, potentially bearing consequences for the human species.
The project positions the artwork as a space for epistemology and active listening, reframing how reality and alternative future scenarios are understood.
