Rožanskaitė’s historical examination of the body-medicine in connection with Pakui Hardware's contemporary perspectives.

Title:
Commissioner: Dr. Arūnas Gelūnas, director of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art
Curators: Valentinas Klimašauskas, João Laia
Artists: Pakui Hardware, Marija Teresė Rožanskaitė

The Lithuanian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024 will showcase works by contemporary art duo Pakui Hardware and modernist painter Marija Teresė Rožanskaitė.

Inspired by the concept of inflammation from Marya and Patel’s book “Inflamed: Deep Medicine and the Anatomy of Injustice,” the exhibit explores systemic harm to humanity and the Earth. It weaves together Rožanskaitė’s historical examination of the body-medicine connection with Pakui Hardware’s contemporary perspectives. The collaborative project emphasizes the interconnectedness of human and planetary scales, addressing the inflammation of bodies under current economic and social conditions. The exhibition aims to find balance in metabolic systems and cool down both human and planetary bodies, with a post-natural landscape by architects Ona Lozuraitytė-Išorė and Petras Išora-Lozuraitis enhancing the immersive experience.
