Meredith Dittmar

Meredith Dittmar is an artist based in Portland, Oregon. With a background in computer science, a career in interactive design, and a lifelong compulsion to create, she brings together multiple fields of knowledge in her practice.

Working primarily with polymer clay, Dittmar creates hybrid relief-like forms in which human, animal, plant and energetic elements merge. Her sculptural tableaux employ recurring colours and motifs to suggest profound connections across biology, technology and consciousness. The figures she models often appear in moments of quiet expression or repose, facing the viewer as if inviting them into an intimate interior world.

Dittmar sees this inner space as something we recognise within ourselves, and believes that through encountering it, the interconnectedness of all things becomes perceptible. For the artist, spontaneous creative action forms part of a broader practice of presence—a way of understanding the self and engaging more deeply with reality.
