Bené Fonteles

Born in Bragança, 1953 and lives in Brasília, Brazil

José Benedito Fonteles is a sculptor, journalist, editor, poet and composer. He began his career in 1970, devoting himself entirely to conceptual art with mail art works, xerox art, assemblages and collages, many of them combining xerography and collage. He also realizes sculptures and objects created with natural elements such as stones, feathers, Indian artifacts and handmade papers. All his work is involved with environmental and social issues. In 1987 he creates the Artists Movement for Nature. His work as a composer is included in the CD Benditos, released in 2003, which brings together three previous works, Bendito (1983), Silencioso (1989) and Aê (1991). All are part of the Movement Artists for Nature.
