Gaetano Pesce
Gaetano Pesce (La Spezia, 1939) was raised in Padua and studied architecture at IUAV, the University of Venice. He worked under seminal architects such as Carlo Scarpa at university and, in 1959, joined “Gruppo N” in Padua. He is an award-winning Italian architect and designer whose pioneering work has become iconic.
Pesce’s work is characterised by the use of diverse materials, organic structures, natural forms, individuality, and vivid colours.
A retrospective of his work opened at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 1996, another followed at the MAXXI Museum in Rome in 2010, and a solo exhibition was presented at the Museo del Vetro in Murano in 2017, featuring the same series of works now shown at Design Miami/Basel.
Gaetano Pesce’s works are included in many major museums and collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Centre Pompidou (Paris) and the Triennale Museum in Milan.
