Luca Panaro (Florence, Italy 1975) is an art critic, curator, and professor at the Brera Academy in Milan, the Fine Arts Academy in Bologna and Fondazione Modena Arti Visive. he lives and works between Carpi and Milan. His published body of work includes: L’occultamento dell’autore (Apm 2007), Tre strade per la fotografia (Apm 2011), Conversazioni sull’immagine (Montanari 2013), Casualità e controllo (Postmedia 2014), Visite brevi (Quinlan 2015), Photo Ad Hoc (Apm 2016), Un’apparizione di superfici (Apm 2017), Dialoghi brevi (Quinlan 2018), La fotografia oltre la ripetizione (Montanari 2019). His essay Realtà e finzione nell’arte contemporanea (2010) was published on the “XXI Century” Treccani Encyclopedia. He co-edited the series of books of Generazione critica (2014-2017) and Effimera (Apm 2016-2017), along with several exhibition catalogues and contemporary artists monographs. He has curated numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Prague Biennale 4, Tongji University Shanghai, Marca Catanzaro, Fondazione Marconi Milano, Embassy of Italy in Copenhagen, Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, Embassy of Italy in Berlin, Musei di Palazzo dei Pio Carpi, Castello Sforzesco Milano). Since 2010 he is artistic director of the Centrale Festival in Fano, and since 2019 of the Zenato Academy in Peschiera del Garda. In 2013 he founded the Chippendale Studio educational project in Milan, and in 2014 the Dummy Photobook Archive. From 2019 is the coodinator of the consulting committee of The Phair – The Photo Art Fair in Turin.
