Mariana Munguia
Since April 2025 Mariana Munguia is the director of the Mexico City space of Mariane Ibrahim Gallery.
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Mariana Munguía is a cultural manager who has worked extensively within public and private institutions dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary art. Her understanding of art and exhibition production, as well as of the diverse audiences that engage with contemporary practices, has enabled her to design programmes that support artists’ work while fostering partnerships and collaborations that help expand their reach.
Munguía has directed several art spaces, including La Planta, Arte Contemporáneo Omnilife in Guadalajara, and Laboratorio Arte Alameda in Mexico City. She served as Art Basel’s VIP Manager for Mexico from 2009 to 2013. She was Director of Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC), where she has also been a member of the Board of Directors since 2004. From 2019 to 2023 she worked at the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBAL) as Coordinator of Visual Arts. Most recently, Munguía was Artistic Director of the 15th FEMSA Biennial in 2024.
Her experience in the development of programmes and strategic frameworks will play a key role in strengthening Mariane Ibrahim’s presence in the region.
