Premio Acacia 2018: Rä Di Martino

Museo del Novecento

09 Apr 201810 Jun 2018

This year the Premio Acacia has been awarded to Rä di Martino, graduate of Chelsea College of Art and of the Slade School of Art. The association annually awards the Acacia Prize to young established Italian artists within the international art scene, as a recognition of their work. ACACIA was founded in 2003 by Gemma De Angelis. Acacia operates according to a philosophy of collective patronages and takes responsibility for a public cultural conscience, working concretely so that contemporary art is justly valued and protected.

Acacia consolidated its relationship with Museo del Novecento in Milan by donating its collection in 2015, affirming its goal in closing the gap between public and private.

This year’s award goes to Rä di Martino. After spending a few years in London and New York she now lives and works in Italy. Her films, installations and photos have been shown in many institutions and film festivals including (and amongst others): Moma-PS1, NY; Tate Modern, London; Palazzo Grassi, Venice; Fondazione Sandretto, Turin and HangarBicocca Milan; Artists Space, New York. With the medium length documentary The Show MAS Go On she has participated to the Venice Film Festival 2014, winning the SIAE award and Gillo Pontecorvo award, a special mention at Salina DocFest, and a Nastro d’argento for best doc-film 2015.
