Founded in 1768, the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) is situated in Burlington House, Piccadilly in London and it is the oldest fine art institution in Britain.
Operating as an independent charity, the academy is led by eminent artists and architects; its purpose is to promote the creation, engagement and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and various activities.
In 2018, the RA celebrated their 250th anniversary by unveiling a newly expanded campus, with even more space to make, debate and exhibit art. Sir David Chipperfield RA has now turned his attention to renewing and restoring the historic RA Schools.
