Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco

Avenida Ricardo Flores Magón 1, Tlatelolco, Cuauhtémoc

The Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco is an institution dedicated to the research, analysis, and dissemination of art, history, and resistance. Covering 5,500 square metres, it encompasses four distinct projects: the Memorial del 68 (Memorial of 1968), the Colección Blaisten (Blaisten Collection), the Unidad de Docencia (Teaching Unit), and the Unidad de Seminarios (Seminar Unit).

The Center is committed to strengthening citizenship and democracy as a contribution to building peace. It envisions itself as an open and plural university-based cultural space where activists and those who can be “activated” come together through memory, empathy, critical thinking and diverse cultural expressions. Through this, the CCUT seeks to encourage innovative forms of public engagement that promote peace, human rights and the active exercise of citizenship within different communities.

Rooted in the history of Tlatelolco, the CCUT recognises the importance of understanding this legacy and its implications today, using it as a foundation for strengthening local identities. It aims to provide a space for reflection and dialogue on the political and social issues shaping the present—questions of human rights, impunity and violence—always with the intention of reinforcing democracy, the rule of law and a culture of peace.

The CCUT also positions itself as a space of resistance and civic practice, where contemporary social movements can connect with those of the past, not only as narratives of memory but as active forces that resonate in the present. Through non-formal education, it works to develop artistic, intellectual and social capacities, nurturing communities of practice and collective learning.
