KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art
Opened in 2016, since the beginning this exhibition venue have been offering several major art shows every year, attracting thousands of visitors
The KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art is an exhibition space located in Berlin, hosted inside a peculiar industrial building in the style of 1920s Brick Expressionism, which offers more than 1600 square metres of exhibition space. Since 2016, important positions in international contemporary art have been shown in the building complex of the former Kindl brewery in Neukölln, both in group and solo shows, often supplemented with events such as artist talks, lectures, and concerts.
The former industrial complex was renovated by Salome Grisard and Burkhard Varnholt, who acquired the listed ensemble of the Maschinenhaus (Power House), Sudhaus (Brew House), tower, and Kesselhaus (Boiler House) in 2011 and carefully restored it. The result is a modern venue that can be used in a variety of ways for presenting and producing art, while preserving the industrial character of the building.
